VP Head of Research & Development
Dean has a diverse background having worked initially in the aviation industry before embarking on a career in research with what is now Plant and Food Research after studying electronic engineering and physics. During a decade with Plant and Food Research he undertook further study completing studies towards a doctorate in Chemical Engineering at Cambridge University.
Industry then called, and Dean moved to Fisher and Paykel Healthcare as an Engineering Specialist, before the role evolved to that of R&D Manager over nearly 9 years.
Most recently, Dean has brought his skills to the role of VP of R&D at Compac Sorting, where he heads up research and product development teams applying vision systems and NIR spectroscopy in the areas of high speed fruit grading and sorting.
Dean has a great belief in the ability of New Zealand to create and deliver on the world stage, taking the strengths of the resourcefulness with the bravery required to engage in solving difficult and valuable challenges.
