2016 Supreme Winner

2016 Supreme Winner / 2016 QBE Insurance Exporter of the Year

“Entering the 2016 ExportNZ Awards was, according to Waikato Milking Systems’ CEO, Dean Bell, an opportunity for reflection on what had been achieved during the company’s 49 year history. “Our focus has always been on innovating, designing and manufacturing milking systems and technologies which revolutionise dairy farming and we hadn’t formally paused to reflect and compare our achievements with other leading New Zealand businesses. “Entering the Awards was a valuable exercise because it required us to step back and evaluate what unique features enabled the growth we have achieved in our short history. And that came down to a team of exceptional people who continually challenge the status quo and who deliver world-breaking innovations which change and improve the life of dairy farmers around the world. “The benefits of entering the Awards was therefore twofold – recognition of what the company had achieved but, moreover, an opportunity for staff to pause and reflect on the part they played in that success. “We duly attended the ExportNZ Awards in Auckland, hoping to win the $10m to $25m category. Competition was tough with some of the country’s leading exporters and we were thrilled when that hope was realised. Within minutes, however, that elation bordered on hysteria when the company won the Supreme 2016 Air New Zealand Cargo ExportNZ Award.” Dean Bell said “entering, let alone winning, the ExportNZ Awards is one of the most valuable team building exercises we have been through generating a team pride and energy which is palpable and which will enable the next phase of growth”
